ZHIRKOV: DEFENCE WILL BE THE KEY POINT
Yuri Zhirkov thinks good work in defence will be the key to success
in Croatia clash.
The Russian national team arrived in Croatia yesterday to
start preparations to the coming clash against Group E leader.
CSKA international midfielder Yuri Zhirkov spoke to Sport Express ahead
of the battle.
"It is sure to be an interesting clash so we are looking forward
to it," said Zhirkov.
"Croatia are undoubtedly a good team but we have come to Zagreb to
win."
"To do that we have to be concentrated throughout the game and dictate
our terms to the opponents."
"Unlike our previous rival Andorra, Croatia will compell us to stay
in the game for ninety minutes."
"The hosting side are likely to be concentrated on our goal so good
work in defence will be the key issue for us."
"There is no doubt that we will have our scoring opportunities."
"In the opponents' squad I would like to specially mention Ivica
Olic."
"He is a top class forward but we have Berezutskiy for instance to
neutralize him."
"My task will be to neutralize Darijo Srna."
"I will face Dario Simic if I go into the offensive but I don't think
it wise to adjsut your manner depending on the rival."
"We are sure to do our best to steal three points from Croatia."
