Guus Hiddink is proud of Russian players, whose blasting victory against
Holland sent Euro-2008 favorites back home.
The Russian team head coach shared his feeling on the game
at post-match press conference.
"Andrei Arshavin has been out of action for a long time so he now
he has to show his vigour on the pitch", said Hiddink.
"This player has a real fighting spirit and it's very pleasant to
work with him."
"We had only two days for rehabilitation after match with Sweden
and I am proud of players who fought from the first till the last minute
of the match."
"They had to play 120 minutes and it's a great achievement that they
battled through to the next stage of the tournament."
"The team was tactically and physically stronger than Dutch side,
though I know how they prepare players in my native country."
"Nevertheless, we overcame the opponents in all football aspects."
"It's pleasant that players didn't lode courage after van Nistelroy's
equalizer, they kept on attacks and two late goals proved to be an award
for us."
"Russian national team let Russian people celebrate this outstanding
victory. So now our responsibility for the result grew considerably."
