Russia made more than successful performance at the European
tournament as they notch bronze medals despite a blasting 0-3 defeat from
Spain in semifinal.
"Of course I am a little bit disappointed by the result, because
I want to in all games", said Hiddink to Sport Express.
"We coped with Spanish players during am hour and our challengers
also demonstrated high level of football."
"Nevertheless it's difficult to play against top teams, but Russia
produced a good impression on the whole football world."
"We proved that Russian players can play modern football, take the
initiative upon themselves and fight."
"I am proud of these players and I hope they impressed Russian children
as well as all Russian people."
"We want to see as many young talents playing in the clubs as possible."
"It's a pity Dmitry Torbinsky missed the match, because he got too
many yellow cards. Dmitry is one of those players who can put the final
stop to our attacks."
"We also had to do without Denis Kolodin, but I am not going to complain
of it."
"We just need players who are able to fully replace the absentees.
A fierce rivalry for a place in the national team squad will be very useful
for youngsters."
"I hope young talents will appear in Russian football regularly and
we will watch their performance."
"However in order to become a stable power in the world football,
we should develop football infrastructure, build stadiums and enhance
our coaching methods."
