The UEFA president Michel Platini shared his views on the
European football tournament, which came to its deadline yesterday as
Spain snatched the cup with a narrow 1-0 win.
"Russia produced a pleasant surprise at the tournament", said
Platini.
"Ahead of the competition kick-off, Russia were not going among favorites,
and 1-4 defeat from Spain in the opener proved everybody's expectations."
"However this team, which has so many youngsters not well known worldwide,
showed interesting football."
"They introduced to the tournament something fresh and reminded me
of the Soviet Union team at the World championship-1986."
"However we didn't see the same level of football as in the match
against Holland in semifinal clash with Spain."
