Last week it was suggested that Zenit had lowered the price
for Tottenham target Andrei Arshavin to push forward the move in the next
few days.
Recent comments from Both the Russian and his 'representative' have been
very emphatic that all is agreed with Spurs and all that needs to be agreed
is a fee between the two clubs.
There was always a possibility that with a lowering of the price there
may well be an increasing of interest, which of course would play very
nicely in favour for the Russians.
This morning we hear that Barcelona have possibly entered the bidding
to take Arshavin to Spain, which we will all remember was the players
first choice and the team he has always aspired to play for and who can
blame him...
With Barca looking to keep Samuel Eto, along with Henry and Krkic to play
a more central attacking role, the need for a 'number 10' may now be the
main aim.
I have no doubt that if Barca did come a knocking, any agreement with
Spurs would be long forgotten, after all as we have witnessed first hand
with Robbie Keane you cant stand in the way of a mans dream..
Clearly this is again all rumour and supposition, perhaps used by the
cunning Russians to push the move to Tottenham through on theirs and not
our terms.
Obviously from a Spurs viewpoint, I wonder whether there could still be
the opportunity to sell them Berba on the agreement that they step aside
for Arshavin, and while we are at it could we have Yaya Toure as well...
