KARPIN: LAUDRUP CAN QUICKLY CHANGE THE SITUATION
Valeri Karpin spoke to Sport Express right after Spartak away match
with Banik.

Spartak general director Valeri Karpin commented on the
UEFA Cup first round opening leg match with Banik, as his team won narrowly
through Banik own goal.
"It would be wrong to assess players' job as the club manager,"
said Karpin to Sport Express. "Banik played their football, but it's
not surprising that they created many problems for Spartak, since our
play is far from ideal now."
"I mean first of all lack of tactical skills, but I suppose Michael
Laudrup can get rid of this disadvantage quickly."
"Both teams created a number of scoring opportunities with only difference
that Spartak players created obstacles by themselves."
"However I can't say that Banik were unlucky - unlike Spartak they
just didn't convert their chances."
"I don't see any sense in comparing modern Spartak with Spartak of
the 1990s primarily because today's football shown by the team is derived
from the work undertaken in recent several years. I don't know why but
I am sad to see them playing this way without pain in my heart."
"I am a newcomer in Spartak, and it's better to ask players whether
I found a common language with them or not. They compare me with my predecessors,
and I can only guess what is their attitude to me."
