The Russian Cup tournaments are famous for their surprises.
Sibir, for example, has knocked the holders of the UEFA Cup and the Super
Cup - Zenit - from the campaign. And yesterday they added Krylya Sovetov
to the list of their victims that take number six in the table of the
regular championship.
In the spring the Siberians will have the chance to prove their reputation
of the fighters for the Cup in the clash against Rubin, that can by that
time have the title of the Russian champion.
But it should be mentioned that Sibir is the only representative of the
first division that succeeded in going to the eight best. Is it bad or
good? On the one hand it is boring without the sensations that the Russian
Cup is rich in. on the other hand when such teams as Sibir go to far in
the tournament national eurocups' perspectives are impended. But that
would hardly happen as Rubin worries about the forthcoming matches and
they seem to be preparing to the match against the team from the first
division.
The results of the matches of the round of sixteen of the Russian Cup.

"The opponents were really stronger and had more chances to score,"
said the head coach of Amkar, Miodrag Bozovic. "We have nothing to
be ashamed of, it was a good match, where Rubin was luckier and they deserved
