Both chiefs said the season to be successful. First of
all because of the three won trophies - the Russian Supercup, UEFA Cup
and European Supercup - and because of quite worthful performance of Zenit
in the Champions League.
Dyukov spoke about the plans for club infrastructure development. According
to his words this year Zenit has at last bought out the territory for
our new camp. And he hopes that by the end of the next year some object
will be put in commission.
"The new stadium is being built by the city and Zenit and Gazprom
only help," said Dyukov. "We hope to start the season 2011 on
a new stadium. By the way building materials are becoming cheaper because
of the crisis and thus the estimated cost of the project can get lower."
"Our sports plans for the future are to return the title of the Russian
championship and perform well in Europe."
"Konstantin Sarsaniya is still my adviser on selection and transfer
work. It is true that we offered him to work as a sporting director in
the club. But he was very engaged with his Sportakademklub [Sarsaniya
is head coach in this club of the First Division] so he was left only
with selecting work."
"By the next season we will probably create one more Zenit team that
will play in the Second Division. But first we will discuss it with the
management. Then we will also know whether the head coach of the youth
team Anatoly Davydov is going to stay."
The next topic for discussion was possible Andrei Arshavin's departure
and his recent interview to Sport Express.
Advocaat: "For me such statements [to read more about the interview
of the leader of Zenit click here] make no problems. We all are leaving
in a free world and any player is free to express his opinion."
Dyukov: "I see a kind of a delusion in it: as if the player wants
to leave and the club won't let him. But we cannot just let the footballer
go - we can yield the rights on the player to another club for compensation.
We have a contract with Arshavin. Andrei made his own decision signing
it. Moreover a certain allowance was paid to him and that is why we cannot
let him go just for fun."
"And at the same time if Andrei desires to leave the club and there
are certain offers we are ready to consider such an opportunity. At the
moment there are no offers from any clubs about purchase of Arshavin."
"I doubt that Andrei will stand by his promise not to play for Zenit
next season. He is a professional. If he does it will be the end of his
career."
"There is a financial crisis in the world and it is difficult to
speak about anything particular. Let's wait for proposals and then we
will see whether the transfer sum of Arshavin is lower."
"While drawing next year's budget we were trying not to cut it and
keep it the same as was the budget of this season."
