Nancy vs. CSKA - 3:4 (1:2)
The scorers: Zerka, 5 (1:0). Vagner Love, 23 (1:1). Ramon, 33 (1:2). Vagner Love, 62 (1:3). Feret, 71 (2:3). Camerling, 79 (3:3). Vagner Love, 88 (3:4).

Immediately after the match Valery Gazzaev announced that he retires from the post of CSKA head coach. Thus he kept his promise given as early as in July in the interview to Sport Express.

"I leave behind a wonderful team, who are quite self-assured," said Gazzaev. "I think that the new coach is to get the team in the golden wrappings."

To the season 2009 another coach will prepare the team. Who would it be - no one knows. But the Army-men knew that for Gazzaev it was the last game with the team (as Yuri Zhirkov said) before the match. The coach himself said that before entering the field.

The players are on holidays since this day. The team is to gather again on January 12, undergo the medical examination, and go to Israel to participate in the First Channel Cup.

The thing was that the motivation of the opponents of CSKA in the last match of the season was much higher than of the Army-men. Any result but a victory was to complicate the life of Nancy that is to play Deportivo in Coruna in the last tie of the group stage.

The difference in the level of motivation got back to in the very first minutes of the game. They started very actively and on the fourth minute Zerka scored.

Just after the hour mark it was 3-1, as Vagner Love drilled a low drive past the Nancy keeper following a ball from Caner Erkin, but CSKA were made to pay for slowing down the pace when Julien Feret turned home a ball 18 minutes from full time. Camerling came on as a sub and finished well from Macaluso's pass with eleven minutes remaining.

But the last word was after Vagner Love as he finished his splendid season with an effective hat-trick and the game-winning goal he created almost alone.

Thus CSKA has won the group stage with 12 points out of 12 possible.

The table of the standings in Group H one match day to go.
