Yesterday CSKA president Evgeny Giner gave an interview
to Sport Express and expressed his point of view on the head coach's quit
from his posy. Valeri Gazzaev announced his retirement from his post,
as he kept his promise gives this summer.
"I promised that at first I should settle this issue with Valeri
Gazzaev", said Evgeny Giner to Sport Express. "Now when we had
a meeting with him and our coach announced his retirement, everything
became quite clear. Our main task for today is finding a new head coach".
"Valeri Gazzaev told me about his final decision ahead of the game
with Nancy. As you remember in July he promised to quit CSKA, and nothing
has changed since then. The coach needs a break, and I am thankful to
him that he didn't leave the team in a hard situation. Valeri Georgievich
made much for our team, and our achievements show it".
"We didn't discuss the possibility of his comeback to CSKA, so it's
better to ask him about his plans for future. I am hopeful that changes
in the coaching staff won't have a negative impact on CSKA performance.
Our future plans will be clear only when we appoint a new manager".
"We don't have too much time for searches, but iam not used to complain
on my work. We will do everything possible to decided this question in
the shortest period of time".
"CSKA has a preliminary plan for pre-season preparations. Most probably
we will hold the first training camo in Israel for around three weeks.
The team will participate in the First Channel Cup there. Next stage of
preparation could depend on the UEFA Cup round of 32 draw results".
"It's hard to say which players will join us in winter transfer window,
since it's up to the new head coach to choose them".
"Of course I am a little bit disappointed by CSKA failure to win
Premier Elague gold medals. At the same time we solved another task, as
we grabbed the Champions Elague berth. You shouldn't also forget that
we won the Russian Cup and squeezed to UEFA Cup playofs this season with
a perfect run of games - maximum points in four games".
CSKA players also commented on their head coach retirement.
"Gazzaev told us about his decision right ahead of the match with
Nancy", said Yuri Zhirkov to Sport Express. "That's why we dedicated
our victory to him".
"Even after such a wonderful victory as we sealed in France, I have
sad feelings", said Milos Krasic. "I want to thank Valeri Gazzaev
for everything he has done for our team and for me personally. Serious
changes await CSKA in future, but I am ready to work as hard as I can
under our new head coach".
"This season became the best one for me out of all years I spent
in Russia", admitted Premier League top scorer Vagner Love. "I
am thankful to everybody who helped me, especially for our head coach".
