At the moment the match of the UEFA Cup that is to take
place at White Hart Lane Stadium on Thursday does not arouse much interest.
There was no rush for buying tickets and nothing was said about the match
against Spartak in the press. Though Spartak is a club that used to win
Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa in European Cups.
The forward of Tottenham and former Spartak player, Roman Pavlyuchenko
told Sport Express about the situation in the team ahead of the match.
"On Sunday we had an after-game class, and today [Monday] we have
a day-off," said Roman. "On Tuesday we are going to start preparing
for Spartak."
"And before we had different tasks on the agenda. Don't you think
that prior to the game against Manchester United anybody would think about
future opponents than of the team of Alex Ferguson?"
"Nobody asked me about my former club yet, but I am sure they would.
But I don't think I will be able to reveal any secrets, as the situation
in the team changes very quickly I cannot always keep up."
"But our team will prepare as for the match with Man. United. We
will strive for a victory only."
The former goalkeeper of USSR, CIS and Russia who played for Chelsea for
seven years, Dmitry Kharin: "The UEFA Cup cannot compete with the
regular championship and the Champions League. But since tomorrow when
all the results of the matchday will be discussed in all perspectives
journalists will start writing about Spartak. You cannot surprise anybody
with the UEFA Cup, people became excited only on play-offs stages."
"But that does not mean that the teams pay no attention to these
games. All matches are important for them and believe me it won't be easy
for Spartak."
"They will have all necessary information about the Red-Whites. But
still the philosophy of every English Ólub is different from that of the
Russian one. They always pay much attention to the strong sides and not
to their opponent's disadvantages and weaknesses."
"If Spartak is not able to surprise Tottenham, they will have it
difficult to gain positive result. And that is the question to Laudrup."
