"Yesterday [on Monday] we had a meeting with our investor
Russian Railways," began Naumov. "Its task was to decide the
future of the football club."
"Russian Railways pay much attention to our club and I got out from
this talk that as long as we have such company chairmen the football in
Russia would exist."
"We talked much about money, calculated everything. And moreover
I was told to watch every penny and use money rationally. Our next year
will be devoted to this."
"The budget of the club was supposed to be cut by 20%, but in fact
it turned to be 10%. As we earn some money ourselves and get them through
other sponsors. The transfer budget is floating."
"Our sponsors said that if we found a better player that can be useful
for the team than we would consider this question."
"The overall budget of the club is $62 millions. I think it is enough
for a club to work."
"Number seven in the Russian championship means a failure in any
case and stood a lot of criticism for that. But in some cases I disagreed
with the management."
"They proposed to buy young foreign players and bring them up, as
they are not expensive."
"And I think that to buy an 18-year old Brazilian is to bury the
money into the sand. It is commonly known that for a year he won't play.
He needs it for adaptation. I'd prefer to bring up a Russian player for
3-4 years instead."
"So, if we are going to buy an international than it will be an experienced
one. For example we have bought Charles, he is 23 and that is a good age
for football. But he has never been anywhere except for his state. He
needs to get accustomed. Every morning he calls his mother and says how
much he misses her. We hope next year he will show himself."
"Our school graduates 20 players a year, we cannot keep all of them.
So some of them become stars in other clubs, e.g. Kokorin. I was criticized
a lot for letting him in Dynamo. But he wanted to leave himself, everybody
can choose."
"When a coach enters a ready team he can reach results in his first
year. And though Rakhimov came into a visually good, strong club, not
all players were of the level of the Premier League."
"At the moment nobody can say whether Rashid Rakhimov a strong or
a weak coach. But it is good for him that Lokomotiv gives him one more
year."
"We have no other way but to play successfully in the season-2009."
