CSKA playmaker Yuri Zhirkov shared his feelings ahead of
tomorrow away clash against Aston Villa.
"I don't think that my current feelings are different from those,
which I had two or three years ago", said Zhirkov. "However
there are some moments, which changed a bit, because we are to start the
season under the new head coach. And I aalways change too".
"Aston Villa sits on the third place in English Premier League, it's
a good team with strong players. I know almost all of them, since they
are well-known".
"Generally speaking I didn't care at all which team would be our
opponent in UEFA Cup round of 32. CSKA set the highest tasks in all competition,
which means we must be ready for a fight with any team".
"If we have been pitted against one of UEFA Cup favourites now, it
means that we should defeat them now. I am sure that we will apply all
our best to knock out Aston Villa".
"Why should we be afraid of them? If you are frightened, you lose
the match far ahead of the starting whistle".
"I am looking forward to the first official match of the season,
because it will conclude our preseason preparations. This year I got tired
of our training since the first day, since I couldn't spend this time
with my wife and my little son. But I am professional and I should progress
with my team".
"I feel that we have a good team, which is capable to attain big
success. It means that everything will depend on our preparations for
the games".
"Russian team head coach Guus Hiddink undertook Chelsea coaching
job, and I don't see anything bad in it. Of course, much depends on Guus,
but thanks to his efforts we have a team, which can make progress. And
theoretically much will depend on person, who will replace Hiddink at
the reigns of our national team".
