Russian national team former midfielder Andrei Tikhonov
will continue his playing career in Kazakhstan together with his friend
Egor Titov. The 38-year-old halfback gave an interview to Sport Express.
"I wouldn't call my contract with Lokomotiv as a present from heaven",
said Tikhonov.
"I found out about Lokomotiv interest in me from my friend Egor Titov.
He called me when I was at home on a four-days break in preparations".
"I have a running contract with Krylya Sovetov and of course I was
afraid that the club wouldn't let me go. Fortunately, their managers have
done me a favour".
Leonid Slutsky said that he was not going to raise any difficulties on
my way and advised management to let me quit the team. I just needed to
settled several details with the club president Zavyalov in order to become
a free agent".
"I am satisfied both with my new salary and terms of my contract.
But most of all I am happy that I will play with my friend Egor Titov
and work with Sergei Yuran. I met with Lokomotiv shareholders and the
club president Daniyar Khasenov before signing a contract and they produced
lasting impression on me".
"I am thankful to Krylya Sovetov for an opportunity to play at high
level. Of course, I expected that I would sign a new contract with them
on the same conditions, but new agreement has been cut down. Many players
stay without work now because of financial crisis, so I had no other choice".
"Unfortunately I will see my family very seldom again, because they
stay in Moscow. This contract will be the last one in my career, and I
will work it properly".
"I was very surprised that no Russian clubs were interested in services
of Egor Titov. He is just 32-year-old and I am sure he would play in any
team on a high level".
"I didn't manage to part with Krylya Sovetov yet. Maybe I will come
to Samara in two or three months. Zavyalov told me about an idea to organize
a farewell match for me. If the club's management considers that such
friendly game is necessary, I would come with great pleasure".
