REHHAGEL: RUSSIAN FOOTBALL IS ON A HIGH
One of the most respected coaches in the world Otto Rehhagel speaks
to Sport Express.

The coach, who led Greek national team to the victory at
Euro-2004, gave an interview to Sport Express at the annual The Ball des
Sports, which was held in Germany.
"Ahead of the last year's European championship I said that I wouldn't
be surprised to find out about new phenomenon called Russian football",
said Rehhagel. "Russian players have all qualities to become the
World champions".
"Nobody knew about Andrei Arshavin a year ago, but just look how
brilliantly he played last year. His football resembled Spartak's style".
"The whole Russian national team demonstrated their best skills at
the continental tournament. You have two majestic central strikers and
very talented youngsters. If they continue working in the same way, I
am sure Russia will achieve great success someday".
"Russia showed good play in the first match against Germany in the
World cup-2010 qualifying campaign. I can say that Russians lost Dortmund
game only through bad luck and the return match will be very difficult
for German camp".
"I suppose that Russian players became more self-assure and they
showed it at Euro-2008. Once I said that Russians were too polite in decisive
games, but today situation is quite different".
"Both in Germany and Russia supporters recall how Zenit outplayed
Bayern 4-0 in UEFA Cup campaign. Their crushing victory could be easily
explained, as they played perfect combinational football and German players
underestimated them".
"I have nod doubts that Russian football's positions are very high
today. But you should keep on working if you want to develop your success".
