Rubin vs. CSKA-1:2 OT (0:1, 1:0, 0:1)
Scorers for both teams are: Semberas (0:1), Sharonov (1:1), Necid (1:2).
Probably the decisive role in the final result of the match played suspension
of Gekdeniz Karadeniz who was awarded his second yellow card in the game.
Thus CSKA snatched the SuperCup for the fourth time and the first time
in the history of the trophy when non-champion win it.
"I am very happy that we have started the season with good results,"
said Zico. "The team has gone past such a strong opponent in the
UEFA Cup - Aston Villa and now we won a trophy on the home arena."
"But I don't want to exaggerate the significance of the victory I
just regard it as another step towards coming victories."
"CSKA is in the beginning of an interesting and difficult season
and I hope that it is going to be as successful for us as its start turned
out to be."
"I am pleased with the game of my players, probably the only aspect
that left much to be desired was accomplishments. If we had made up all
he chances we had we would have won in the full time. That is what we
are going to work on."
"Our opponent was rather masterful and it is not surprising, after
all they are current champions. They had not many chances but managed
to score. And that is football."
"Most important is that we did not lose heart and continued to fight
after the conceded goal and one chance out of plenty in the overtime turned
into a goal."
"This game showed that we did a lot of work at the training camps
for the team easily coped with 120 minutes of the game."
