LAUDRUP: HAVE THE SQUAD FOR ZENIT IN MIND
The head coach of Spartak Michael Laudrup gave an interview to Sport
Express after the final preseason training camp.

"In the last control match of the preseason we outplayed
BATE 3:0," said the Danish specialist. "The team pleased me
not only with the result on the scoreboard but with the quality of the
game as well."
"All three goals were scored by defensemen and that happens quite
rarely. It is good and does not diminish the abilities of our frontline.
Our forwards looked very aggressively and according to my watch Velliton
could have scored on the twentieth second already."
"I am sure that wingbacks must participate in offensive actions.
But all the same the defence should not suffer as well. The guards cannot
forget in for a mere second about their straight duties."
"I see that Martin Jiranek has all necessary qualities for a captain
as well as three vice-captains: Denis Boyarintsev, Stipe Pletikosa and
Ivan Saenko."
"I would say that the team has captain's quartet and I like it very
much. Team spirit should always be everywhere. Captains have work both
on the field and outside the stadium. And in all the matches Jiranek coped
with the field-work perfectly."
"I do already have in mind the squad for the first game of the season
against Zenit. I underline that for only first one, and not first ten."
"If a player takes part in the home match with Zenit and then in
the next one - against Kuban that does not mean that he secured a place
in the squad for the whole season."
"My principal is that every time the coaching staff is to choose
among the competing players the one that is strongest at the moment."
