- As well as last year the third official match of the season
ended up with an away loss in the UEFA Cup for Zenit and in both cases
your team did not look its best.
- I disagree with you, in Italy we did not play badly. Yes last year in
Marseille we looked awful and in Udine we controlled the game and conceded
on the last minutes of the match. In France we could have lost with a
bigger score but in Italy it was impossible. Has not it been for several
decisions of the referee we would have felt more comfortable now.
- What are the reasons for your defeat in Italy?
- I have already mentioned the referee who made several dubious decisions.
Besides this moment with a penalty he has made others blunders. But the
team has also made mistakes in Italy and together with refereeing it led
to the loss.
- You managed to work miracles with Marseille. And what are your feelings
this time?
- Udinese is not an easy rival but we have a good team. I think that we
can win back these goals. We are going to be up for the victory only.
- Who will replace suspended Anyukov and Shirokov on the right wing and
centre of defence?
- Of course I have made up mind who is going to substitute them but I
won't unveil the names before the game.
- The field in St. Petersburg is not in its best condition. Can it be
an advantage to any of the teams?
- Our team is one that likes and can play football. Not fight or defend
but exactly play. In the match with Spartak you could have seen it. It
is easier to play and create on a good field. And bad-conditioned turf
is better for counterattacks and if this field is an advantage that it
is better for Italians.
- What is wrong with Zyryanov? In the last two matches he missed 100%
chances.
- One cannot score all the goals. It is football after all. Zyryanov does
not score now that means he is going to convert later. He is a fantastic
player I have no doubts about him. Everything starts with Konstantin in
our team.
- And what can you say about Danny? He is not showing the level experts
expect of him.
- I think that after the match with Spartak all these doubts should drop
out. He had a wonderful game as well as the other squad. I am dead sure
in each player of the team but we cannot win every game. And if we fail
to win talks about this or than player start. No footballer has disappointed
me yet.
