Yesterday at the Nike press-conference Andrei Arshavin was
asked whether he agreed with those supporters who have already added six
points to the Russian national team for the coming two matches in the
World Cup-2010 Qualification.
"When they think so how can I think different," said Andrei.
"But unlike supporters I have to enter the field and get these points.
Nobody would give us them just for fun."
Arshavin arrived to Moscow in good spirits and on the first question of
correspondents answered with a joke.
"Do you ask how are we going to play in the nearest games? A defence
play. We are going to reel the rival in to our half of the field then
sky the ball towards Pogrebnyak or Pavlyuchenko and there you are."
"I have not seen Pavel so I cannot judge about his form. What concerns
Roma, of course it is no good to sit on the bench but he played for the
reserve team and that is quite usual for England."
"In Arsenal we have the same scheme - those who rehabilitate or fail
to get into the main squad always perform for the reserves. It is much
better than not enter the field at all. So I hope that Roman is in his
best conditions."
"I am going to help the guys in attack though I still have some problems
with the leg. It is injured but I a sure it won't prevent me from playing."
"The leg doe not hurt any more but they have not yet removed the
stitches. It is going to happen in the nearest two-three days."
"I came in pugnacious spirits, I always go to the national team in
good mood. And moreover I returned to my native land. I have the feelings
as if I have come home after holidays though long ones."
"I always want to score and Saturday is no exception. But moreover
I want to win and it does not matter who is going to score in this case."
Roman Pavlyuchenko was also in a good state of mind when the Sport Express
correspondent called him.
"Now I am trying to solve all the affairs accumulated during my absence
in Moscow," said Roman. "I should do everything before the training
camp begins so than nothing disturbs me from football."
"I arrived to the national team with a great desire to play. In the
last three matches I have spent only seven minutes on the field so I had
rest and gathered power."
"Yes I had a match for the Tottenham reserves and it helped me not
to lose the playing form."
"I have not almost seen my national teammates but I know they are
well trained and prepared now. I am sure we have not lost all our interaction
patterns so everything must be very well."
