Dick Advocaat accepted his fault of capping seven foreign
players in Premier League Week 5 clash between Lokomotiv and Zenit, that
is forbidden by the rules. On the 81st minute Fatih Tekke replaced Pavel
Pogrebnyak to become the seventh foreigner on the pitch in Zenit lineup.
The team coaches understood their mistake and four minutes later substituted
Ivica Krizanac by Denis Shirokov. Nevertheless Zenit is at risk of accepting
a technical defeat.
Having returned from the locker rooms Zenit striker Pavel Pogrebnyak was
rather surprised journalists' awareness about the fact that the St. Petersburg
club could deprive of the points and suffer a technical 0:3 loss because
of violation the rule concerning limits on the number of foreign players
in the team at one moment.
"We shouldn't blame Dick Advocaat, since all players and his assistants
bear responsibility for this mistake", said Pogrebnyak. "If
I managed to score the second goal in the second half, the score would
have been 2:0 and it wouldn't have been necessary to throw the second
striker to the fight".
"Of course I didn't think about the rules' violation during the game
and I found out about it only in the locker rooms. Naturally everybody
was outraged by the news, because we have been fighting as hard as we
could and everything was in vain".
"It's not fair that we are to accept a technical defeat because of
four minutes. But on the other hand we have nothing to do with it, since
we violated the rules".
"I saw Fatih Tekke and I decided that he would replace Danni, however
Advocaat substituted me. It's not the first time when I have to leave
the pitch and of course I was not happy with it".
"Lokomotiv is highly criticized this season, but maybe they haven't
got used to each other yet. The team has a strong character and they don't
lose their hopes".
"The pitch conditions are ideal in Cherkizovo and they meet no comparison
with our field in St. Petersburg. For such quick and technically-skilled
team as Zenit the pitch conditions are very important".
"The coaches have enough claims to our strikers, since mostly defenders
and midfielders score goals this season. I played well against Lokomotiv,
but again I left the field without a goal. Frankly speaking I don't know
how it can be explained, but I am sure that situation will change sooner
or later".
