ARSHAVIN: I DON'T KNOW HOW I OUTSTRIPPED WALCOTT
The Russian Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin scored
four goals against Liverpool on Tuesday and became the main topic for
discussion not only in England but all over the football world.

At the evening on Tuesday everything was on the side of
Liverpool: full Enfield Road that drove their team on to the first place
in the Premier League, wonderfully playing attacking line of the hosts
with Fernando Torres at the head, and Arsenal's defence pierced with injures.
And Arsenal found the only answer to this - the Russian forward under
number 23. Arshavin made something that nobody did in the 63 years at
the Liverpool stadium.
- Can you find the words to describe your feelings after your first poker
in the career and not a simple poker?
- I don't need any special words. I just have a very pleasant feeling
inside. But at the same time an idea flashes through my mind that it won't
be cool any more, it was cool. For it is difficult to score four goals
even against at team from the second Division.
- Your efficiency in the match was fantastic: four goals on target - four
goals.
- And if you take into account that I had the ball for only about ten
times, not more than it was obviously a kind of magic.
- And how was your mood spoilt after Liverpool scored their fourth goal?
- Of course, it did spoil my spirits. And not only mine, but of the whole
team. But at the same time Liverpool had a great game and they did not
deserve a loss as well.
- So the final score is quite natural and fair?
- I think, it is. Though both sides can think that they missed the victory.
- And how did you like Liverpool in the personal fixture? For you said
once that the only team that can catch up with Manchester United is Chelsea.
- I have not changed my mind yet. But Liverpool played very well. And
I liked Fernando Torres most of all. He impressed me even more than at
Euro 2008. Spectacular forward!
- Do you think it is ok when a match ends with the score 4:4?
- I like such football. And I think that spectators also like it. Of course
the goalies and defenders are not happy but once in a season they can
definitely tolerate. Though Liverpool seems to have such games on the
belt line.
- You scored four different goals - what do you like most?
- I don't know. The first one was the result of a good combination. And
when I scored the second, the shot was luckily good.
- And I remember the last better. When did you get power for that jerk
through the field on the 90th minute of the match?
- I wonder about it myself. Nobody from our team can outstrip Walcott.
Usually neither his team nor opponents can catch up with him. I don't
know how I did it. Probably that was my day.
- Such a jerk proves that you have enough power for the whole match.
- No - that proves that I had a good rest in the first half (laughs).
But earnestly in such matches you do not even think about fatigue.
