4thegame.com pundit Tony Cascarino has compared
Arsenal's four-goal hero Andrey Arshavin to past Gunners legend Robert
Pires.
Arshavin hit all four goals in their 4-4 draw at Anfield and Cascarino
has backed him to be a huge success at the Emirates.
"Andrey Arshavin's four-goal haul at Anfield has brought him to public
attention after a relatively low-key start to his Arsenal career.
"The Russian has fitted in pretty well and scored a few goals which
is not overly surprising as his style links perfectly with the Gunners
style of play. In fact, both the player and the club look made for each
other.
"Arshavin is a player who likes to pass and move but can also dribble.
We also learnt from his performance on Tuesday night at Anfield that he
can shoot too.
"I wasn't sure where he'd play for Arsenal, whether he'd be on the
left or more central but he looks comfortable playing a similar role to
the one Robert Pires held at the club.
"The little Russian has a bit of everything to his game apart from
the fact he doesn't do much defensively. Then again, I am not sure that's
something Arsene Wenger looks for in his wide men as I don't remember
Pires or Marc Overmars tracking back too often.
"Wenger prefers to concentrate on what they offer offensively and
as we've seen, Arshavin offers a lot.
"Some players suit clubs like Tim Cahill at Everton whose game fits
perfectly with the team's style. The same can be said of the Russian at
Arsenal.
"I can certainly see Arshavin staying for four or five years and
like Pires enjoying a very successful Gunners career."
