So the Premier League season is over, it`s done and dusted.
We took third place, our lowest placing for five years but, considering
the trauma we were going through in January, still a respectable achievement.
Thanks to the managerial skills of Guus Hiddink we`ve avoided that dreaded
fourth place and don`t face, what could be, a difficult Champions League
qualifying game, shortly after the 2009/2010 season has started, unlike
Arsenal.
Sadly, it doesn`t look as if Guus will be hanging around in his managerial
capacity, like another favourite son of Stamford Bridge - Gianfranco Zola,
he`s true to his word and will be resuming, full time, his role with the
Russian Football Federation.
But, like many who have been touched by the Chelsea experience, Guus has
hinted he`ll be returning to soak up the unique Chelsea experience and
in almost a farewell to the Premier League, in his post Sunderland interview,
remarked,
"I will miss the Premier League. I have seen it from the inside.
I have enjoyed every minute of it in a great club, and I am going to be
near but only as a tourist."
Guus it has been our pleasure and we`re eagerly looking forward to the
mother of all goodbyes next Saturday at Wembley.
