Zenit striker Pavel Pogrebnyak didn't avoid the talk with
Sport Express correspondent after Sunday failure in Premier League Week
10 fixture against Dynamo Moscow. The narrow 0:1 lose of course made him
upset.
"I even can't recall when Zenit suffered three losses in four games
for the last time", said Pogrebnyak. "It's wrong to blame referees'
work, though we can't ignore them".
"On the other hand, we don't show the same football, which helped
us win the UEFA Cup one year ago. It's hard to mention only one reason,
which hampers us".
"Someone moves to another club, someone is out because of injury,
someone stills didn't extend a contract with the club.. All these factors
altogether can't but have a negative impact on our display".
"Alexandr Kerzhakov believes that Zenit looks weaker than last season
and Andrei Arshavin's absence made our attacks less dangerous. I don't
agree with this statement, because Sasha won this match and he can say
such things. Let's look what he will say at the end of the season. However
I really think that we miss Arshavin".
"Injury troubles will leave Danny out of football for a long time.
The Portuguese player is a high-class professional, but we can find a
replacement for him".
"In the episode when referee punished Igor Denisov with the second
yellow card and sent him off the pitch late in the match I was not far
from them. When I heard the referee' whistle I had no doubts that he would
award us with a penalty kick. I even came up to Tymoschyukto discuss who
would take it".
"And then I saw that the referee gave Denisov the second yellow card.
To my mind he was not right, because Igor didn't simulate".
"Nobody understood the referee's decision not to award a penalty
for Kolodin's handplay. At the same time CSKA were given a right for a
penalty kick for Tymoschyuk's unintentionally handplay. It's a shame when
you come across such unfairness".
