- Have you already understood what position is more difficult
- the one of general director or of a head coach?
- If I worked now as a pure head coach I would be able to compare these
two posts. But because I combine both of them it is difficult to say anything
particular.
- Do you have enough time for everything?
- Yes, I have enough time for everything. A different question is what
is the price for all this. I have to save on my private life, on sleep.
- Before the start of the season you confessed that the whole winter you
have spent on planes completing manning of the team. What will it be now
when the team needs you permanent attention?
- Other people will fly - sports and technical director. But the right
to make decisions will remain with me. Probably I will be able to be present
at the final stages of some negotiations that need my presence. That is
not going to tell on the quality and price of our purchases.
- There are two spread structure schemes of a football club. The one is
like in Chelsea where there is an owner, strong general manager and a
hired head coach. The other scheme is in Manchester United where everything
goes around the head coach who is directly connected with the owners.
Is it correct to say that combining two positions in Spartak you change
the structure of the club from the former time to the latter one?
- At the moment it is true and the situation won't change till the end
of the season. What will come next I don't know and don't want to predict.
- How strong will the reinforcement be in the summer?
- I would call it renewal not reinforcement for you can talk about reinforcement
only when the newcomers start being of benefit to the team. In the winter
I wanted to buy 4 to 6 footballers and now the figure is 2 to 4. I don't
want to announce the positions but can say that the question is about
reinforcement of the central line.
- Before the start of the season you said that you were not going to put
anybody officially on the draft though were ready to sell everybody if
there was a good offer. Is the concept the same now?
- Of course. I cannot see the point in posting a list of those we are
going to sell. If I was a player and was sitting on the bench I would
understand that the team did not count on me. And if I wanted to play
at the same time I would ask my agent to look for another team. But here
many people do it differently: it is ok that the team pays to me and I
can keep on sitting on the bench.
- You planned to fly to Spain in the summer break to get the coaching
license that let one train the team on one's own.
- Yes, I am going after the matchday 12. But not for the license. According
to European rules I only need to sign up for the course to get the Pro
category and after this I can work as a head coach. This rule also holds
true in Russia.
