The Austrian referee Konrad Plautz has been appointed to work at the coming World Championship-2010 qualifier between Finland and Russia on June 10 in Helsinki. Ahead of the match he gave an interview to Sport Express.

"I have already refereed two games of Finnish national team", said Plautz to Sport Express. "By the way they played both matches at home, and the coming qualifier against Russia will also be at home stands".

"Finnish team possesses solid defence line and it's always very difficult to force one's way through their defence. I guess this game will be tough for both sides".

"Recently I refereed the UEFA Cup semifinal match between Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar and I think it could be assessed as some kind of preparation for Finland vs. Russia qualifier. Of course it's not right to compare the Ukrainian derby with the match between two neighboring countries, but this Eurocup match helped me a lot".

"I respect Russian national team head coach Guus Hiddink very much. This specialist can control his emotions and he is one of those coaches, who never troubles referees".

"Now I am at my peak form, but I will have to finish my refereeing career at the end of the year, unfortunately I can't do anything with it, because everybody should follow the rules".

"I am very pleased with the way I worked at the European championship-2008 and most of all I liked my first match there between Spain and Russia in my home city Innsbruck".

"In this game we made one mistake, when Fabregas scored a goal from the offside position. My assistant didn't mention it, but I am fully responsible for the referees' work. As for the whole game I think nobody won't complain about level of our refereeing".

"I had a dream to referee the final match of European championship, however it didn't come true. Now I don't have enough time to think about grandiose career after I retire as a referee. Maybe the main task for me now is to make little mistakes".

"Prior to Dynamo vs. Shakhtar semifinal I visited the church in Kyiv. I think that I will do the same thing and pray for the good match several hours before the qualifier in Helsinki".

"My motto is 'The referee shouldn't be the main figure on the pitch' and I will stick to it in the upcoming clash".

"I don't see any sense in learn all players, as it's just necessary to pay attention to their characters. I always look more closely at hot-tempered players".
