The CSKA midfielder, best player of the Russian Premier
League in May according to Sport Express, Yuri Zhirkov eyes the coming
World Cup-2010 qualifier against Finland today.
"We worked very hard during the training camp," said Yuri. "And
the load was quite big. So we are ready for the game."
"On Monday at the theoretical class we watched the match Finland
vs. Liechtenstein. But actually I did not find out anything new."
"Finland is a tough and well-disciplined team but al деру same we
must outplay them. In any case we can do it due to the fact that on every
position we have a better player."
"I am sure that we will be up to the game in the way necessary for
victory. Mood alters a bit from match to match usually but it is always
battlelike."
"We had a difficult game in Vaduz but we always had it hard with
such teams as Liechtenstein. They usually focus on destroying the game
of the opponent. "
"But what is most important is that we got three points there and
with Finns the game will be different."
"I have good feelings before the match and I am looking forward to
winning the game. I don't mean that it will be easy. For Finland has a
good team and no national team will find it easy to play them in Helsinki."
"According to mass media reports there are going to be a lot of Russian
fans at the stands. But of course an away match can never become a home
one."
"Every player prefers to play with the full stands, that adds adrenalin.
Even when all of them support your opponent - there is a kind of a challenge
in it. And moreover we always remember how many people in Russia watch
us on TV."
"When I hear the word 'Finland' first of all I recall ice hockey.
But if we manage to outplay them in ice hockey than we must do it in football
as well."
"I know that Alexei Eremenko is going to perform in the Finnish team
though he has a Russian passport. But I see nothing bad in it."
"Let's recall when J.R. Holden helped our basketball national team
win the European Championship last year. That is life and it can create
different situations."
