KARPIN: I AM TIRED OF DENYING THE RUMOURS
Spartak head coach Valery Karpin gave a short
interview to Sport Express during his club's preparations in Austria.

"You may think that we have chosen this training base,
where the European champions Spain prepared for the Euro-2008, in intentionally,
however it's not really so", said Karpin. "I found out that
Spanish side had been training there only when the choice has been made".
"Many fans hoped to see Kovac and Maidana back to Spartak from a
loan and only Prudnikov returned to the team. The term of his loan has
not finished yet, but Terek management decided to let him go earlier".
"Kovac and Maidana have running loan agreements until June 30 and
they can't join us now, while Ivanov, Filipenko and Shishkin will play
away on a loan until the end of the year".
"Our Saturday training lasted for more than two hours. We made several
breaks between the exercises and after the training we also hade many
exercises and explanations".
"Vladimir Bystrov has back problems and Welliton also had some painful
feelings in his back, while Bazhenov has slight injury too. Rodriguez
is ill, as he had high temperature, so we don't overload them with work".
"These four players will surely be in their full strength by the
restart of the Russian championship. I repeat that we give them a break
only now, and they don't hold full-fledged trainings".
"We have only two goalkeepers in full action Dzhanaev and Pletikosa
and it's quite enough for us. Their coach Gintaras Stauce is in so perfect
form and we can use him if it's necessary".
"I can't say for sure whether we will acquire new players this summer,
but it will depend on our talks with them".
"I am sick and tired of disproving the rumours about Drincic and
Co as possible candidates for our squad. Players' agents invent these
rumors to increase the price for them".
"We will strengthen the left flank of our defence working with our
defenders and of course we will search for new acquisitions".
"I would like to admit that we think about reinforcement of the right
flank and we are working at all positions during our preparations".
"I have discussed the program of our training camp with Oleg Romantsev,
but he won't work with us here".
