Following Amkar's loss to Fulham in London the club head
coach Dimitar Dimitrov expressed his opinion that Amkar has good chances
to leave Fulham behind on their way to the next stage of Europa League.
"Rash attacks of the Englishmen were not surprise for our players",
said Dimitrov to Sport Express. "I knew about Fulham's main playing
scheme and tried to explain it to my players. But as you understand it
was our debut in Europe and they were nervous".
"Players didn't feel sure on the pitch and our rivals punished us
for our first mistake. We improved a little bit after that but anyway
we couldn't create any danger in front of Fulham goal".
"We chose attacking football in London and included defender Gaal
into the starting lineup. This defender likes joining our attacks and
I wanted to surprise our opponents".
"I don't think that we should make claims on players because I think
that everyone looked well. We had many scoring chances in the second half
and unfortunately we managed to convert only one of them. If we had scored
at least one more goal I would have been sure that we would fight back
the goal difference in return match in Perm".
"Amkar had two absolutely different halves against Fulham in London
match. I saw faces of players when they went to the locker rooms in the
interval and I saw that they were ready to topsy-turn the game. They played
at their peak capabilities and didn't deserve the second goal".
"We trained set-pieced taking into account specifics of English teams
where defenders always look after their opponents personally. But Fulham
surprised us by choosing zone variants and closed all free space for us".
"If we open the score quickly in Perm we will get a real chance to
outplay Fulham and we should use this unique opportunity".
