"For the first time Zenit addressed us about the purchase
of Bystrov on Monday", said Karpin.
"I don't know whom Zenit spoke first - with the management or with
the player but when we found out that St. Petersburg offers only 8 million
euros for him, we answered that the player was not for sell. Leonid Fedun
shares this point of view".
"Bystrov's contract expires in 2011 but any club can use certain
option in the agreement of the midfielder".
"We have this situation with the player many times and I don't want
to go into details of our conversation but I think he does not want to
leave the club".
"But Zenit will offer him big money and thus interest the player.
It is obvious that from the coach's point of view the team needs such
a player but as a human I can understand Vladimir".
"I cannot call that the player is thinking about the offer now. In
fact Zenit tries to persuade him to agree on terms of the personal contract".
"I don't know whether they will be able to reach an agreement and
when this can happen. That is why there is no certainty whether Bystrov
is going to play against Rubin or not".
"At the moment the player is preparing to this match but by Saturday
everything can change".
"We have everything under control and don't think I have no ways
of replacing Bystrov in mind. I have many different combinations".
"Vladimir is a warrior and I am not afraid that even if he plays
against Rubin he will save power and avoid combats. He will definitely
do his best".
"We did not try to raise the player's salary to keep him in the club.
For if we raise Zenit will offer more. And the story with Danny and Semshov
will be repeated".
"When the player's contract has a certain sum in it the management
cannot influence anything but when there is no sum we can ask for whatever
money we think appropriate".
"And Zenit wants to have rights on the player so it is impossible
to make the player not play against Spartak this season".
"There is no such player as Bystrov in the Russian championship and
it is impossible to find anybody abroad quickly in three days".
"Sometimes negotiations can last for several years. So if Bystrov
leaves we will count only on our reserves".
"For example we can change the scheme. Or just a different player
will replace Vladimir on the right wing".
"Of course we cannot fully exclude the appearance of a newcomer,
our selection service has players on every position but till recently
it was not relevant enough".
