"This victory made Russian supporters happy however
it was darkened by Igor Denisov's suspension for the next meeting with
Wales", said Hiddink. "Of course it is a big loss for us".
"Denisov has always played in the starting eleven recently and proved
that we were right when we chosen him. But I have already said that coach
always has to overcome various obstacles and I have no doubts that we
will definitely find a way out of this situation".
"We warned all players who were on verge of suspension before Saturday
game as they needed to be more careful. But you never know what will happen
during the match".
"We have some time to decide who will replace Denisov in Cardiff
and maybe it will be Sergey Semak though he is not the only one candidature".
"I really think that Russian team demonstrated modern football before
the break. We created many scoring opportunities and showed high self-efficiency
despite our opponent was not among top-teams".
"And the second half of the match really disappointed me because
we played quite differently. We had a comfortable lead but I didn't expect
that two halves would be so different".
"At the same time I don't see any sense in comparing our games with
Liechtenstein and Wales since our clash in Cardiff will be more challenging".
"Our coming encounter will represent a real battle because English
players always fight till the very last minute".
"Self-efficiency is the main factor for me. If our players have no
problems with it in Cardiff, we will stand good chances for victory".
"As for Yuriy Zhirkov, I can say now that his injury is more serious
than Andrey Arshavin's one. He will stay in Chelsea since Thursday and
I will keep in touch with the club's medical staff concerning his form.
Now I have no grounds to be pessimistic about his health".
"We preferred to play with Liechtenstein with two strikers who were
supposed to play closer to the opponents' goal. Quite possibly we will
change our tactics for Cardiff encounter. We will try different several
variants during our trainings on Monday and Tuesday".
