Arsenal's Andrey Arshavin says he is "on target"
with his recovery from a knee injury but he is unlikely to play any part
in his side's weekend Premier League fixture against Wigan.
"Recovery from my groin injury is on target," he told the Russian
newspaper Sport Express. "Everything is normal with the knee, too,
so by the end of the week the plan is to attend training."
The 28-year-old aggravated a groin injury against Manchester United on
29 August, but played for Russia in Wales last week, prompting Arsene
Wenger to say: "He should not have played. You can say a lot, but
it doesn't do a lot."
But Arshavin himself insisted there was no problem over his appearance
for the national side. "The club and I are in a situation of full
understanding," Arshavin said. "I won't be hurried and so-called
problems in terms of my injury and playing for the national team have
been invented."
