October's Zvezda award winner Sergey Ryzhikov earned 54
points, while his closest challengers Andriy Shevchenko and Alexandr Ryazantsev
got 44 and 42 points respectively.
Sport Express correspondents asked people, who worked with Rubin goalkeeper,
to share their points of view on this player.
"From the point of view of sport Ryzhikov possesses perfect qualities",
said Boris Ignatyev, who headed Saturn in 2004, when Ryzhikov played in
the club. "He controls process of the game, helps his partners, as
he is perfectly tactically skilled. It's not a problem for him to predict
his opponents' actions".
"So I think that he is a real boss in his penalty area. I cannot
say that Sergey had little practice in Lokomotiv, but I can say for sure
that looking at his performance in Rubin many coaches regret that they
didn't see him as the number-one goaltender".
"He improved his skills in Kazan considerably and proved once more
that his technique doesn't have any weak sides. However he still has enough
room for improvement and he will definitely become more self-confident,
that is not hard to do in this strong team".
Krylya Sovetov striker Evgeniy Savin, who played with Ryzhikov in Anzhi
in 2005, recalled that difficult season.
"That year was rather tough, as we were among leaders at first and
then a lot of players left the club because of financial troubles",
said Savin.
"But Sergey was one of those who never gave up. And I was sure that
he would become very successful in future".
"When Ryzhikov played in Lokomotiv, we had no doubts of his qualities",
said Anatoliy Byshovets, who headed Lokomotiv in 2006-2007.
"The fact that Sergey became so successful in Rubin, was not a surprise
for me, because he finally found his home team".
