Russia manager Guus Hiddink has hinted at a possible move
back to Chelsea, this time as a technical director of the club.
The Dutchman had a short but successful stint in west London last season,
which culminated in the Blues winning the FA Cup.
Hiddink currently holds the reins to the Russian national team, but failure
to qualify for the 2010 World Cup has given rise to speculation that the
former South Korea boss could be on his way out.
It is believed that the experienced coach has been offered a spot on the
PSV Eindhoven bench, but the 63-year-old has hinted at a possible move
back to England.
"I am interested in working as a technical director," Hiddink
said in The Daily Mail.
"On one hand, I am getting no younger and to work every day becomes
less simple.
"On the other hand, the responsibilities of a technical director
are more closely related to team affairs.
"This job offers tighter influence on strategy and future development
of a club. It is close to me."
The initial plan was for the former Australia boss to act as an informal
advisor at Stamford Bridge following his successful spell as interim manager,
but Carlo Ancelotti will reportedly welcome the opportunity to work with
Hiddink in a permanent capacity.
