"The base of the team is not firm yet and latest three
games of the season proved it", said Karpin. "The cement of
the team will become firmer only during pre-season preparations and only
after that we will be able to introduce something new to our team".
"I didn't hesitate at all whether to let Soslan Dzhanaev be Spartak's
number one goalkeeper in the last two games against CSKA and Zenit. And
I didn't regret it all since in case of change of the goalie for Pesyakov,
this goalkeeper also could fail these matches while we don't want to have
two morally upset goaltenders".
"After the New Year all players start everything from the very beginning,
so each of them will have an opportunity to show himself".
"I talked to Rostov sporting director Shikunov about their interest
in Khomich. He is not against loaning this goalkeeper, but there is nothing
clear yet".
"Of course I believe that Spartak would be able to clinch Premier
League title this year, and we really could have fought for the first
place until the very end of the campaign".
"And actually Spartak really fought for the gold almost until the
end of the season, even despite our problems, such as injury of Martin
Stranzl, who missed two months, and loss of Vladimir Bystrov".
"I think that five or six players will leave us in winter transfer
break, while four or five players will return to the squad".
"Nizamutdinov, Kovalchuk and Dedura will quit Spartak, but I am thankful
to them for their professionalism and attitude to our club".
