Chelsea will block Guus Hiddink from accepting any potential
job offer from Manchester City, according to News of the World.
The tabloid claims that Roman Abramovich will intervene should the Dutch
tactician consider joining one of the Blues' Premier League rivals.
The London club's billionaire owner has close ties with Hiddink through
the Russian national team, and was largely responsible for luring the
former Netherlands, South Korea and Australia coach to Stamford Bridge
last term.
With Russia failing to reach the 2010 World Cup, the 63-year-old is thought
to be mulling over a number of proposals from clubs in Holland and England
- including a directorial post at Chelsea.
Press speculation continues to tie Hiddink and Eastlands together, with
he and Jose Mourinho the leading contenders to take the reins should Mark
Hughes get the sack.
However, a NOTW source said: "Manchester City might want Guus if
they sack Mark Hughes but there is no way Abramovich would allow him to
be manager at City.
"When Peter Kenyon left Chelsea he was forbidden to take up a post
at Manchester City. That was part of the settlement.
"The only job Guus is likely to take now is behind the scenes at
either a club in Holland or at Chelsea."
