Famous outstanding specialists shared their points of view
on the best goalkeeper of the Premier League in 2009 and November's Zvezda
Award winner Igor Akinfeev.
"The main word, which describes Igor Akinfeev both on the pitch and
in real life, is his reliability", said coach of goalkeepers in CSKA",
Vyacheslav Chanov to Sport Express.
"This season was not easy for him, and many specialists criticized
Igor in the first half of the championship for his extreme nervousness.
Akinfeev was concerned about his team's poor results, but it didn't influence
his performance both in CSKA and Russian national team".
"Akinfeev's technique is very simple, that lets us talk about him
belonging to the Soviet school of goalkeepers. And the most important
thing is that he has practically no weak sides, he is always stable".
"Akinfeev drew everybody's attention to his performance once he began
his career, and many people waited that the 17-year-old rookie will break
psychologically", said CSKA head coach Leonid Slutsky.
"But he is still in action. Maybe it would sound strange, but half
of the year of injury lay-off helped him change his point of view on some
things and distract from football".
"It's impossible to imagine that he could reduce requirements or
catch star fever. He is very talented goalkeeper. If I am not mistaken
he played 126 matches without conceded goals, and it's a great achievement
fro the 23-year-old player".
