"In the last two days I received too many calls,"
started the Russian striker. "Not only journalists but also friends
wanted a confirmation of my transfer to Zenit that is presented as a fact
on the Internet."
"I can reassure everybody at once or probably deject some people
but there is no way for me to the Saint Petersburg club. And it is my
personal decision."
"The explanation is very easy: I will never be able to become an
insider there because I used to play for Spartak for a long time."
"Knowing the relationships between Spartak's and Zenit's supporters
I understand that the formers will never forgive me such a move and the
latters will never accept me fully."
"I have always cared for the attitude of the Red-White fans and that
is why I told my agent Oleg Artemov that the alternative with Zenit is
out of the question."
"I hope all the sides concerned will understand me correctly: the
transfer of a Spartak man to St. Petersburg is like the move of a Tottenham
player to Arsenal. It is wrong not to care a cuss about the feelings of
the supporters who loved you."
"I do not know the details of the talks of my agent with the club
but I decided to say about it in advance for I cannot imagine myself in
Zenit's jersey."
"I cannot speak about other options but everybody understands that
I must leave Tottenham. For if they keep on the bench for another half
a year the price on forward Pavlyuchenko will plummet."
"Naturally I train as hard as I can and I even get to the application
list for matches though spend them on the bench. And I do want to play
very much."
