Guus Hiddink has been urged to carry on as Russia coach
by the man who is set to be named the Dutchman's new boss.
However, reports in Holland say Turkey have made an improved bid to take
the 63-year-old to Istanbul.
Sergei Fursenko, who is almost certain to be elected the new president
of the Russian FA on February 3, has backed Hiddink to stay in his current
role until at least the summer.
There had been reports that Fursenko, a former president of Zenit St Petersburg,
would be happy to see the back of Hiddink and his expensive ?6.25million
a year after-tax salary.
But Fursenko said: 'I think that Hiddink should work according to his
contract, and during this time there should be reflection about whether
Guus can solve the problems that appear before him.

'If the coach seizes that, why shouldn't he continue to
work with the team?'
Hiddink is under contract till July, but can walk away without financial
penalty at any moment following the failure to qualify for the World Cup
finals.
The former Chelsea interim manager would be near the top of any list for
clubs and countries looking for a new boss and he turned down an approach
by Manchester City prior to Roberto Mancini's appointment a month ago.
Juventus and Liverpool would interest Hiddink - provided the salary is
right - but he is prepared to stay in his job until the right opportunity
comes up.
Talks are expected with Fursenko before the election, but Turkey could
be about to give him something to think about.
A ?1.75m a year offer to lead the country was easy to turn down before
Christmas, but it is now claimed a offer of ?5.75m is on the table.
