DECISION DAY COMING WITH GUUS HIDDINK
Since Russia disappointingly fell out of the
World Cup, Guus Hiddink has been the target of countless speculation with
many questioning if the Dutch tactician would return to club football.
Consequently, Mr. Hiddink is one of the premier replacements to turn under-performing
clubs fortunes around.

Though such rumours seem to be more wild speculation, it
is impossible to deny that given the Russian manager's prominence, prestigious
coaching opportunities will become available. This is particularly the
case this year, where a number of top quality sides are suffering on the
pitch but also wary of a deadly double-sided axe from financial problems
that loom in the future if their situation does not do an about-face.
Whilst only rumour, once again Guus Hiddink's is being brought up as a
replacement, this time with Liverpool. The legendary Merseyside club are
suffering through a highly problematic year that has seen them cast out
of the Champions League and in serious threat of missing out on European
competition.
With many questioning manager Rafa Benitez as well as the burgeoning debt
obligations of the club, rumours of Guus Hiddink emerging as a replacement
have begun. Though there have been no public comments of detailed negotiations
with the Anfield group to replace Rafa Benitez, Guus Hiddink's representative
Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has insinuated to the media that there has been
contact, though no further details are noted.
He further stressed to Sports Express, 'that there will be no firm decisions
on the matter till they meet with the new president of the Russian Football
Union'. The RFU is electing its new manager on 3 February, with former
Zenit Saint Petersburg president Sergey Fursenko expected to take the
role.
For Russian football fans, the next two weeks will be tenuous because
until the matter with the new president of the RFU is settled, rumours
will persist.
