"At the beginning of my career I was a striker",
said Saenko. "At first we used the playing scheme with two strikers
when I played in the Russian youth team and in Germany, but later it has
been replaced by the scheme with three attackers and my job was to help
defenders".
"Now I even cannot imagine that I shouldn't work in defence. In general
my position on the field is not very important for me, as I just want
to play football".
"My right leg is stronger than the left one, but I had to play on
the left flank a lot. It doesn't have any special significance for the
midfielder".
"The main quality of flank halfback is to solve problems while playing
face-to-face with his counterpart, and these players are always highly
valued by the clubs".
"My vacations differed from other players' holidays, because I had
to lose 5-7 kilograms. I trained very hard and fulfilled the whole program
given by our coaches. I wanted to lose weight too, because the coming
season will be very important for my team".
"I have setting targets for myself for the whole my life and have
been trying to fulfill them. I have never paid attention to others".
"I am not 100% ready for the ball exercises now, as for physical
workload there are no problems with it. We have a new physio and rehabilitation
coach Toni Panassollo of Brazil, he is very good specialist and a real
professional".
"I train and work even in my spare time, hot of course I won't take
part in our trial matches during this preparation camp. If I pick even
a slight injury, it will put an end to my hard work".
"On one hand, walking on crutches is very offensively and unpleasant,
but on the other hand you begin changing your mind while thinking about
simple things".
"If you climb the footsteps now, you won't mention anything special
in it. However when I was on crutches and looked at other people, I though:
'They can easily climb the staircase, but I cannot do it!'
"It was very tough period in my life and it let me look at myself
from aside".
