Yesterday Sergey Fursenko was elected new RFU president
at the extraordinary meeting of the Football Federation.
"Nobody could be absolutely sure in results of elections", said
Fursenko to Sport Express. "My previous work in Zenit didn't give
me any confidence, while I suppose that my experience of working in Saint
Petersburg club will help me a lot at my new job".
"I held several very interesting meetings with representatives of
regions' federations, coaches and players. I told them my point of view
on the program, which we will put into reality now".
"I also got an opportunity to know their opinion on the RFU's work,
critics and suggestions how to improve the union's activity. It's very
important that people were not indifferent that means they think about
our future".
"If someone hears RFU for one month or one year, he should work only
with the national team, but if to think about future, the region's problems
are important too".
"For example, Anyukov, Zhirkov, Kolodin, Pavlyuchenko, Gabulov and
Zyryanov are from Russian regions and they began their careers in the
big football there. It means that we can count on new generation of football
talents and I believe that future of Russian national team will depend
on development of football in regions".
"Result of the national team is the peak of the Union's work and
people can assess the current state of things in the country's football
by Russia's achievements. However I wouldn't call it the main indicator
of quality of the RFU's work".
"It's pity that Krylya Sovetov are in tough financial situation and
FC Moskva could also face some financial problems. To my mind we need
to find the way out of this situation together".
"The Russian Football Union is linked with the club since its licensing
and is supposed to guarantee that all teams take part in the domestic
championship".
