Malafeev spoke about his tenth off-season preparation on the highest level.

"In general everything is clear in the preparation,"
said the experienced goalie. "As usual -camps, training process,
weekends at home."
"But I cannot say that everything is easy. Of course experience helps
a lot - at least you perfectly understand why you need all this."
"I remember my first training camp - it was in France with Anatoliy
Byshovets."
"That time I was passing the Cooper test for the first time and I
was dead after it. I remember it very well. But I needed to experience
such things."
"Now everything is different: different time, different exercises,
and different training process."
"There are many young players in the team now for whom these camps
are first in the main squad. I regard them with understanding for I know
that it is not easy for them at all."
"On the one hand they need to train well but on the other hand they
must show themselves so that the coaches make a note about them and probably
include them in the squad."
"But we should not forget that Zenit is a very strong team and we
have 2-3 players on every position. In such situation it is very difficult
for them especially psychologically. They can perform well but the situation
is not to their favour."
"Most important is that they should treat it with understanding.
Everybody went through it. They must do their best and wait for their
hour."
"People do not usually change a lot so I cannot say that these ten
years on the highest level altered me. Only attitude to certain things
and situations can change."
"As for me personally my naive ten years old views make me smile
only. Of course I have something to recall in terms of wasted opportunities
and right decisions."
