After the friendly match against Hungary, where Russia snatched
1-1 draw, the author of the team's only goal Diniyar Bilyaletdinov talked
to Sport Express correspondent.
"In general Hungarian team was rather predictable", Bilyaletdinov
said. "However it was not our best match, as we didn't look as united
team".
"Halves of this game were really different, but they differed in
our manner of playing, but not in our mindset. Our attacks were held mostly
through flanks in the first half and we created a couple of really good
moments. After the break we took control of the ball, though we had been
losing counterattacks more often".
"By the way our rivals produced good impression. As our coaches told
us, Hungarians like playing football, but not winning by all means".
"I had been feeling comfortable during most part of the match, and
I got tired only closer to the end of the meeting. I had four uneasy flights
in recent six days and maybe it influenced my form. In general I could
have played better, though I scored a goal".
"Of course we would like to end Hiddink era in Russian team with
a victory, but unfortunately we didn't manage to do it. The season hasn't
started yet, but even those players, who didn't play any official matches,
have actually completed the full preparation program. Maybe we lacked
positive emotions first of all".
"Naturally after Maribor we had a feeling of incompleteness, but
I think we have no right to complaint of something, because a few people
believed in spring 2008 that we would manage to win the bronze at the
European championship. Our team has enough achievements to be proud of,
though we still have space for improvement".
"With arrival of new manager, changes will occur of course, but it's
necessary to introduce them on our basis".
"I remember that head coach of the national team changed twice in
my career, and every time he involved new players to the team. It's useful
for rivalry between players, however new specialist shouldn't forget about
players, who were in the squad under his predecessor".
"There are no irreplaceable players, but changing the roster only
for making changes is impossible. Players prove their worth only in action
and every good modern coach understands it".
