"We had good moments in the match," said Akinfeev.
"But unfortunately everything was decided by the conceded goal that
I am fully to blame for."
"Taking advantage of this opportunity I want to apologize for my
goof in front of our supporters through your paper for they did not deserve
this loss."
"I do not want to delegate the blame to others. It was me not Ignashevich
who touched the ball last and sent it right on the foot of Bukharov."
"I wanted to keep the ball in play though the first thought to occur
was to kick it out. And you saw what came of it."
"Nobody told me anything in the dressing rooms. I think words were
needless: everybody understood everything perfectly well. And they saw
that I also understood it."
"I do not want to discuss my teammates and speculate on the question
why we failed to equalize in the second half. Our coaches will study the
match thoroughly and point out the mistakes."
"As for the problem of converting there is a tendency that when you
fail to score once, twice or thrice you start thinking that you will not
be able to score in this match at all. And then your self-confidence fades
away. Though nevertheless the result of this match was determined by my
mistake."
"The spirits are really low now especially mine: nobody likes losing
and sportsmen hate it especially."
"But I hope this situation will only motivate us more for the future
games. Football is unpredictable and a team can change even in one game.
For example Sevilla had a 2-0 lead in the match against Real Madrid on
Saturday but the game finished not to its favour. The game of the Royal
Club should be a role model."
"We understand that we disappointed our supporters. They did not
expect such an absurd mistake of me. What can I say to comfort them? Only
that we will do our utmost so that in Spain everything goes the other
way."
