Wolfsburg have confirmed Obafemi Martins is set to leave
the club for Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Martins, who joined Wolfsburg from Newcastle in 2009, has struggled for
first-team football in the Bundesliga and will now move on.
A statement on the official Wolfsburg website read: "Obafemi Martins
will leave Wolfsburg after only one year. All the formalities have not
yet been ironed but, but the Nigerian World Cup participant will move
to the Russian Premier Liga."
Martins told BBC Sport: "A new beginning, a new start in a new country
promises so much of a challenge for me. I have to thank the fans of Wolfsburg,
my former colleagues there and wish the club all the best for the future.
"I am joining a team of champions and I hope to bring my best to
the club to make them even greater."
