ADVOCAAT UNVEILS THE SQUAD FOR EURO-2012 QUALIFIERS

The Russian national team's head coach Dick Advocaat unveiled
the list of players, who will prepare for the Euro-2012 qualifying matches
against Andorra (on 3 September) and Slovakia (on 7 September) yesterday.
Russia's squad for these games include 21 names:
Goalkeepers - Igor Akinfeev (CSKA); Vladimir Gabulov (Dynamo); Vyacheslav
Malafeev (Zenit);
Defenders - Alexandr Anyukov (Zenit); Alexey Berezutsky, Vasiliy Berezutsky,
Sergey Ignashevich (all - CSKA); Yuriy Zhirkov (Chelsea, England); Denis
Kolodin (Dynamo);
Midfielders - Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (Everton, England); Vladimir Bystrov,
Konstantin Zyryanov, Roman Shirokov (all - Zenit); Alan Dzagoev (CSKA);
Igor Semshov (Dynamo); Dmitriy Torbinsky (Lokomotiv);
Strikers - Andrey Arshavin (Arsenal, England); Alan Kasaev (Rubin); Roman
Pavlyuchenko (Tottenham, England); Pavel Pogrebnyak (Stuttgart, Germany);

"I know qualities of Alan Kasaev and I want to see whether he will
manage to show his best in the national team", Advocaat commented
to Sport Express. "Moreover I think that it's time to invite new
player to the squad and hopefully this invitation will be useful both
for Kasaev and the national team".
"I know that not all players from this list perform well or get much
playing practice in their clubs like Yuriy Zhirkov. But I am not obliged
to do like the clubs' head coaches. And finally I have nobody who can
replace these players".
